Date: 18 January 2017   Time: 15:00 - 16:00

Prof.Catherine Picart of the Institut Polytechniquede Grenoble presents:
In vivo, cells are surrounded by an extra cellular matrix (ECM) which provide them with bioactive signals coming for the ECM proteins and growth factors. Presenting active biomolecules to cells using biomaterials as carriers enable them to mimic some aspects of the native ECM and to study cell signalling and tissue formation. Here, I will focus on the delivery of bioactive proteins, the bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) to induce bone tissue formation using engineered biomaterials. I wish to show that osteoinductive coatings containing BMP enable study at a fundamental level the early steps of bone tissue formation and trigger bone regeneration in vivo of a critical size femoral defect.
