We are pleased to announce the 1st Queen Mary 3Rs meeting - Innovations in Animal Welfare and Research Meeting that will be held at the Innovations Centre, Clark Kennedy Lecture Theatre Blizard Institute on the afternoon of the 27th June.
1st Queen Mary 3Rs meeting
Queen Mary University London is fully committed to the key principles of the 3Rs for the use of animals in research. This meeting will be an opportunity to promote and discuss all the great 3Rs innovations that our staff has developed within the last year, across the reduction, refinement and replacement schemes. The program will provide a broad example of the different disciplines and areas that have been funded and /or recognised for their 3Rs impacts, including work from various institutes and schools across the university. Dr Nathalie Percie du Sert, Head of Experimental Design and Reporting at NC3Rs, will provide an educational overview of the Experimental Design Tools (https://eda.nc3rs.org.uk/) available to free resource from the NC3Rs that are used worldwide to help design robust experiments, as recommended by most research bodies, funders and scientific journals.
We also would like to request the presentation of posters to promote the display of ongoing progress on care, welfare and 3Rs on preclinical studies across Queen Mary. In particular, we would encourage technicians, MSc and PhD students and early research academics to participate, as this would be a great opportunity to exchange ideas, stimulating further advances and innovation on 3Rs, and supporting funding applications and the training early-career scientists. There will be prizes awarded for the best technical innovation and the best scientific progress presented within the 3Rs scheme posters. Winners will be announced at the end of the day during the drink network session.
Please note that registration is free but required. If you interested in presenting a poster, please let us know before the 21/06/2019.
